INTERNATIONAL SERVICES NKUAS and POKA work in co-operation to organize different kind of activities for Finnish and foreign students and to train International Tutors. OFFICER OF BOARD: SURVIVAL KIT At the POKA office you can rent a Survival Kit that contains useful items like a pillow and a blanket, a mug and a glass, plates, cutlery and cooking utensils. The price is EUR 50 of which EUR 17 are refunded when the Kit is returned in good and clean condition.TUTORING
The Main point of peer tutoring is the support from a student to
another. It's based on the interaction between students - information,
skills and experiences. The aim is to reach common goals: expertise,
graduating and team spirit. A peer tutor is equal to the student and
often easier to approach than the staff of the school would be.
Student Union POKA recruits and trains the tutors and is in charge of developing tutoring in NKUAS. The student union POKA is always there for the tutors by giving its support and advice when needed. Among the staff of UAS the most important collaborators for the tutors are the student counselors and the teacher tutors. Other collaborators are the other peer tutors, the nurse, the student pastor, lecturers and training and development coordinators and so on. A tutor guidebook is peer tutor's adviser. You have to have your own stick to badminton and a mat to yoga. You can use POKA's stick in floorball. Gym is in Rantakylä at local school in Pataluodonkatu. Badminton and ball games are in Niinivaara school in Tikkamäentie 17. Yoga is in Wärtsilä house in Karjalankatu 3. Niinivaara school isn't in use 15.9.-3.10. Gym is cancelled in 30th of Sep. Floorball is cancelled in 22nd of Sep. All sports are cancelled on week 42. POKA's jogging club No enrollments, no payments. Everyone can run with their own speed. The purpose of the group is to go jogging together once a week, meet new people and maybe at the same time develope themselves as better runners. If Sunday isn't a good time for you, there can be many different jogging groups that have separate jogging times. It's possible that jogging club is able to have some lectures from Fysiotikka also, we'll see.
